Art & Art History students have two unique opportunities to participate in faculty-lead Education Abroad Courses.

UConn's Education Abroad works with students and the Financial Aid Office to make these experiences affordable. Both of these programs facilitate degree progress – students won’t take extra time to complete their degrees, because each course taken in Florence or London fits into the Plan of Study.

Acceptance into Study Abroad programs is review based; students apply to their desired program(s), after which a variety of criteria are employed to determine participants. Criteria may include academic standing, g.p.a., a written essay, letters of recommendation, and/or portfolio review.

Florence, Italy

Each Fall, one of the faculty leads a group of Studio Art and Art History students on a semester-long program in Florence, Italy. Based at historic Palazzo Rucellai, the students pursue their studies in observational painting, drawing, and photography – in a city where the arts have been at the center of civic life for centuries. Art history students can study the history and culture of Florence under the guidance of Italian art and architectural historians.

London

Each Spring, a faculty member leads Graphic Design students on a semester-long program in London, England. Recognized internationally, Central St. Martins provides an opportunity for our Graphic Design students to study alongside their own in problem-based classes.
